Hydrogen may be the key to a clean energy future. Hydrogen has the highest energy content per unit weight of any known fuel. When burned in an engine hydrogen produces effectively zero emissions. It can be produced from abundant domestic resources, including natural gas, coal, biomass and even water.

SAE Energy would like to couple hydrogen technology with diesel engines. The use of diesel fuel and hydrogen together can be a bonus with decreased emissions, increased power, and improved mileage.

SAE system can be fitted with turbo-charged diesel engines and allows a means to substitute diesel with a variety of alternative fuels to include hydrogen, CNG, etc. The system can be fitted without significant engine modifications. We use a combination of proven gas delivery components with an electronic control system to provide efficient alternative fuel delivery. The systems and ECU monitors a number of sensors to ensure the correct amount of hydrogen is being delivered under all conditions. We have spent considerable hours mapping the individuals ECU to take advantage of this fuel substitution while giving maximum vehicle performance. The ECU monitors all inputs and sensors and will shut the hydrogen flow in the engine if it operates outside of design parameters.

The level of gas substitution can approach 50% improved emissions, economy and proven result. The system includes a composite tank and many safety systems. We realize the hydrogen highway is in its infancy but cutting edge technology is available today and can be used with CNG while you wait.
